This Morning legend returning to the show after a year off screen and rumours of feud with Holly and Phil

RYLAN Clark IS RETURNING to host This Morning next week alongside regular Josie Gibson, the Sun can exclusively reveal.

It comes after the popular Essex-born presenter, who turns 35 today, took a 14-month break from the ITV daytime show, last appearing on the couch with Ruth Langsford, 63, in August 2022.

The flagship has been in crisis since star Holly Willoughby, 42, quit two weeks ago, just months after Phillip Schofield, 61, was sacked over a relationship with a much younger runner, leaving a gap in the presenter rotation.

A TV source said: “Rylan is already part of the This Morning family and an absolute professional at presenting. He has experience both on the sofa and hosting his own TV shows so the audience is safe in his hands.

“He’s excited to be back in the fold and bosses want to see how viewers react to him and his chemistry with Josie with a view to bringing him back again in the near future.

“It’s been a turbulent time for the show, and hosts like Rylan are key to keeping the ship afloat.”

Earlier this year, there was speculation that Rylan threw shade at Scofield in the midst of a slump when he gave an interview in May.

Rylan, who announced he was leaving Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two in April, did not name anyone but said: “People can see who they are and they can see who they are not.

“I’ve been in this industry for almost 11 years and all I’ve ever been is nice and polite to people.

“And that’s starting to pay off for me now because there are people in this industry who aren’t like that. They think they’re something special. And the walls are starting to come down.”

Last month Rylan made another thinly veiled reference to Schofield in an interview with The Telegraph discussing showbiz gossip.

He said: “The only time I’ve ever been involved in something like that is when my name was involved.

He went on to explain that he lives by the motto: “Work hard, be polite to everyone and be good to everyone on your way up, because everyone has a fall.”

An ITV spokeswoman declined to comment.
