This Morning show ‘that started Holly & Phil’s fallout’ revealed after clash left her ‘incandescent with rage’

HOLLY Willoughby was furious when Phillip Schofield refused to let her present This Morning alone on International Women’s Day, The Sun on Sunday can reveal.

But Phillip’s friends claim he felt he was being “thrown under the bus” because he appeared to be causing trouble.

The pal explained: “Phil said Holly was ‘heated’ about the whole thing. The next thing ITV’s press team got a call from a reporter suggesting that Phil had been having a hard time.

“It felt like an orchestrated coup, that maybe Holly wanted to present the show herself and didn’t need Phil anymore.”

The row began with a curt conversation with ITV’s chief presenter Martin Frizell.

A pal said: “Phil got a text from Martin asking him to take the day off because Holly wanted to do the gig herself.

“Martin said something to Phil in the style of the series about wanting to give women in the UK a day off from everything – no washing, no housework.

“He wanted them to celebrate being women. Phil said that what Martin is proposing is not the topic of the day.

“For Phillip, who has two loving daughters, it felt patronizing and very humiliating.

“He told Martin that he felt like 1950s misogyny and that it was degrading to women and urged him to do something better.

“Martin then suggested he present the wine, which made Phil haughty and complain to Emma Gormley, the director of the day department.”

In the end, Holly (43) presented the beginning of the show in March last year alone with the female production staff, and was later joined by Phillip (62).

The new claims come just days after The Sun revealed how Phillip branded Holly a “witch” and directly accused her of “bringing me down”.
