In a short clip posted to his Instagram, Dr Scott said: “I’ve had a bit of a rough time because I hurt my back really badly. I can’t get up at the moment.”
In an accompanying message, Dr. Scott wrote: “I am currently in severe pain and spent the night in the emergency room.
“The staff were amazing, so attentive and kind as I received pain meds, check ups and soon an MRI for the worst back pain I have ever experienced in my life.
“This is not a pity party or a request for condolences, but a post of gratitude for the kindness and humanity I have witnessed and experienced since my admission to the hospital.
“After watching the 10 o’clock news from my hospital bed last night, it pained me (even more than my current condition!) to see all the mayhem going on here in the UK at the moment.”
“I quickly realized that at least 95% of the health workers and support staff who took care of me while I was here were of foreign origin and there was no way this hospital could run without them.”
Australian-born Scott seriously injured his back just days after celebrating his 49th birthday.
Later in the video, Scott referred to the ongoing ‘social unrest’ across England and Northern Ireland, sparked by the stabbing of a number of children in Southport last week.
“I am really pained at the moment by the sight of social unrest,” Dr Scott said.
“Immigrants bring a lot of really positive things and so just be nice and let’s be calm.
The This Morning star broke down in tears as he revealed the heartbreaking loss
“After terrible things happen, it’s perfectly fine for people to be upset about it, but we can’t tar everyone with the same brush.
“Immigrants bring so much, and I am an immigrant too,” he added.
He moved to the UK after rising to fame on Aussie TV’s hit show, Animal Hospital.
Scott’s co-star and Friday show host Dermot O’Leary today wished him a speedy recovery, saying: “Get well soon.”
