This Shark Vacuum Visibly Brightens My Rugs with Just a Few Passes — and It's on Sale for Under $200

I wasn’t looking for a new vacuum when I started testing cordless vacuums for PEOPLE—or so I thought. But it turns out that the Shark vacuum I’ve been reviewing for six months could tackle one key area my other vacuum couldn’t.

The Shark IX141 Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum makes such a difference on the light colored carpets in my living room and entryway. It picks up dirt, my dog’s hair, my hair, the occasional animal, and all other types of debris, big and small, so effectively that my carpets are visibly brighter after just a few minutes of vacuuming.

Not to mention, what’s trapped in an extra-large dustpan always annoys me. Did I really just walk on all that shit!?

Just a few minutes in rug mode and a few slow passes back and forth over my Ruggable faux cowhide rug is all it takes to visibly improve its appearance between washes. Occasionally it gets stuck on the rough edges of the carpet, so I’ll have to turn the vacuum off and on to get it working again. But considering how well it works, it’s a minor inconvenience to me.

Equally effective on hard floors, the Shark vacuum has a handy front light that illuminates debris you might not otherwise see. It converts to a handheld device with a few clicks, and comes with several useful accessories, including a crevice tool and a pet multi-tool that I used on my red velvet couch.

This cordless vacuum is also popular with customers on Amazon, garnering thousands of five-star ratings. “This is the lightest vacuum cleaner I’ve ever owned,” wrote one customer. “It really penetrates deep into the carpet and works great on wood floors. I love that it will lay flat to get all the bunnies out from under the bed… I’ll buy another one if this one ever stops.”
