His tragic death was announced tonight.

A statement on behalf of his beloved wife and family read: “It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother.

“Tom was an exceptional man who brightened the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the entire family and we ask that you respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”

King Charles and Camilla have now paid their respects.

Their statement read: “The King and Queen have been informed of Thomas’ death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in mourning the loss of a beloved family member.

“Their Majesties especially send their sincerest thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and the entire Kingston family.”

Thomas’ wife, Lady Gabriella Windsor, is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

The late Queen and Prince Michael were paternal first cousins.

Thomas has worked in frontier market investments and is a director of Devonport Capital.

He was once described as “the most desirable man in London”.

Thomas graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in economic history, writes The Telegraph.

He worked in the Department of Diplomatic Missions of the UK Foreign Office, and for almost three years he worked in Baghdad as a project officer for the Iraq Institute of Peace.

His job was to mediate conflicts in Iraq, and he even helped negotiate the release of hostages.

Thomas then moved into finance, working as an equity analyst for global asset management firm Schroders.

Tom was an exceptional man who brightened the lives of all who knew him.

He was the director of Voltan Capital Management until April 2017.

Thomas dated Pippa Middleton back in 2011, after she split from cricketer Alex Loudon.

They met through mutual friends, and although their romance was short-lived, they remained close.

In fact, Thomas and Lady Gabriella sent an invitation to Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews in 2017.

A friend of Pippa previously told the Daily Mail: “Tom is extremely charming, polite and very popular with the ladies.

“In fact, he’s exactly the type of guy you’d want your mother to meet.”

In September 2018, it was announced that Thomas had become engaged to Lady Gabriella Windsor, who is 51st in line to the throne.
