Thomas Rhett Putting His Bare Feet on Plane Headrest Is Giving Fans the Ick: 'Put Your Dogs Away'

Thomas Rhett caused quite a stir after breaking a basic principle of airplane etiquette.

The country star, 34, shared a series of photos on Instagram on Thursday, September 12, showing him goofing around as he traveled to Edmonton, Canada in what appeared to be a private jet.

In each slide, Thomas Rhett is seen with bare feet as he tries to get comfortable in the seat. The first shot shows the musician leaning back while resting his feet on the headrest of the seat in front of him. He has a big smile on his face as food and drinks can be seen on a tray under the table.

Thomas Rhett then begins to turn his body and face backwards. His head hangs off the edge of the seat as he stretches his legs and rests his feet on the wall behind him. Amping up again, the musician places his feet above the plane’s window and leans his back against the armrest.

While the “Craving You” singer appears to be taking full advantage of the many perks of a private jet, his followers were quick to tell him to cover his bare feet.

“Put your dogs away,” one user wrote, while another added: “I know this is pajamas but still…feet on the seat 🙅‍♀️.”

Another commented, “That’s NOT what you meant when you said the baby was barefoot on the dance floor,” in reference to Thomas Rhett’s song “Barefoot.” They added: “BRO, PUT THE COMMAS DOWN”

In response to the feedback, Thomas Rhett joked that he didn’t know what “dawgs” meant and was simply considering a possible career change.

“Y’all, I had no idea what ‘dawgs’ were. So I asked my 25-year-old brother-in-law… my feet.. my house☠️ Right now I’m auditioning for my career as a foot model,” he wrote.

PEOPLE previously spoke with travel expert and consultant Nicole Campoy Jackson of Fora Travel about the divisive topic of how to treat feet on a plane, and she agrees with Thomas Rhett followers that bare feet must be covered at all times.

“I’m a firm believer in covering your feet in flight,” says Jackson. “If it’s shoes, great. If it’s socks, great. But no one should be barefoot on a plane. If you wore sandals to the airport, bring a pair of socks with you for the flight.”
