TikTok Designer Behind Ella Emhoff's 2024 DNC Dress Reacts to Her TV Appearance: 'She Looks So Good!'

Ella Emhoff worked with a TikTok-famous designer to create her look for night four of the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

On Aug. 22, the 25-year-old supported her stepmother Kamala Harris at the final DNC dinner in Chicago wearing a custom design by creator Joe Ando.

Before Emhoff debuted the dress on national television, Ando teased that he was working with the model for a “historic event” on TikTok, where he has 2.9 million followers. Then, when the moment finally happened, he posted a reaction video of himself cheering.

“I’m watching the dress you made on national television,” he wrote alongside the clip. “ELLA LOOKS VERY GOOD!!” he added in the caption.

He also shared the video on Instagram, where Emhoff commented: “WE DID IT JOE!!!!!” referencing the viral meme from the moment Harris learned she and President Joe Biden had won the 2020 election.

Ando originally went viral for creating clothes for his partner Niamh Adkins. In a TikTok video shared on June 27, Ando revealed that he started designing in his parents’ garage and continued to do so in his apartment until he got his own art studio this year.

His popularity has turned him into a social media sensation even among the stars, earning him quite a reputation for creating bespoke pieces for A-list celebrities. It also became synonymous with his catchphrase, “Can I make you a dress.”
