TikTok Mom Pokes Fun at Her Supermarket-Purchased Minions Cake: ‘This Is So Not What I Asked for’

A Minions birthday cake fell short of one mom’s expectations, as she documented in a video on social media.

Late last month, TikTok user @babygirls0s0 shared a post on the video-sharing platform, in which she could be seen scoffing at a birthday cake she got from her local grocery store ahead of her son’s birthday celebration.

“Yo, I just picked up my son’s Minion cake from HEB and this is the ugliest fucking thing I’ve ever seen,” the woman began in the video, referring to the Texas grocery chain.

“This isn’t what I asked for, and his party is tomorrow. It’s totally fixable, and I’m not that picky, so I just took it. But this is the ugliest fucking thing ever,” she continued.

The TikToker mom then detailed exactly what she wanted the dessert to look like, sharing a photo of a Minions cake from Pinterest that she said she asked an HEB employee to replicate.

She noted that she told the employee she wanted blocks of blue and yellow, but the cake didn’t have to be as detailed as the one she found online.

“She even asked me, ‘Do you want it ombre to go from blonde to yellow?’ and I say, ‘No, pure blue, pure yellow,’ said the mother.

“It doesn’t have to be that fancy,” she added, noting that her son would ruin the cake before eating it anyway.

Moving on to a display of the final product of the cake she received from HEB, Mom jokingly said, “What the hell is this?”

“Where are my swirls? Why are they green?” she continued, noting that her requests for a treat had not been met. “What happened to the eyeglass circles?”

In a statement to PEOPLE, HEB said, “At HEB, we strive to provide our customers with quality products and ensure they are satisfied with their purchases.”

“We understand the user’s frustration and apologize for the inconvenience,” the company added. “We are working to make things right.”

Not long after, the TikTok user shared an update on the cake ordeal, noting that she, her fiance and her mother-in-law had redone the cake.

“The cake update has been in high demand. So here it is,” said @babygirls0s0 in the following post. “What we ended up with is this. Look how beautiful this was. And it lasted two seconds.”

According to mom, she added a printed Minion topper to the cake and moved the included ribbon to wrap around the treat, hiding the ombre look.

She also further decorated the cake by adding “Happy Birthday” toppings and a colorful birthday candle.
