TLC canceled shows due to Tionna “T-Boz” Watkins’ recent medical diagnosis.
In a statement shared on the band’s Instagram Stories on Saturday, Aug. 24, Watkins, 54, and bandmate Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas wrote that Watkins “experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting and intense abdominal cramps” after a show in Toledo , Ohio, on Thursday 22.8.
The singer was immediately seen by a doctor, who diagnosed her with “abdominal blockage” and advised her to cancel TLC’s performance at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, August 23, and the performance on Saturday, August 24 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.
According to the statement, Watkins was expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday, August 25.

“Tionne deeply regrets having to cancel these shows and sincerely apologizes to all of her fans and event organizers,” TLC said in a statement. “The decision to cancel was made on the advice of her doctor, who required her to stay in hospital overnight to undergo a CT scan to assess the severity of her condition,” the statement said.
The group plans to change the dates for the canceled performances in the future.
“TLC is committed to rescheduling the canceled shows and apologizes to all fans, especially those who traveled long distances to attend. The group appreciates your understanding and support,” the statement concluded.

Watkins’ latest health condition comes three months after TLC canceled Canadian tour dates in May because she and crew members came down with the flu.
“It is with great regret that we have to inform you that we have to cancel the upcoming date. Unfortunately, several members of our tour, including T-Boz, have come down with the flu. As a result, she has lost her voice. She has been advised by doctors that she will not be performing this week,” he said. TLC in a statement at the time.

The “Unpretty” singers later returned to the stage to perform in Lincoln, Calif., in June.
Watkins and Thomas, 53, celebrated in April when TLC — which previously included the late rapper Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who died in 2002 after a car accident at the age of 30 — received iHeartRadio’s 2024 Landmark Award. award in Los Angeles.
