Tom Hanks’ niece, Carly Reeves, made headlines after going through a mental meltdown while appearing on the hit ABC reality TV series Claiming Fame.

The actress, who is related to the Hollywood icon through his wife, Rita Wilson, revealed her uncle’s reaction when she made her debut in the series.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 39-year-old was asked about the Forrest Gump star’s reaction when she told him she signed up for the show. “Oh, he’s so excited for me,” she said. “He said, ‘Join the show, it’s your choice. I hope you do well. Good luck.”

Talking about her relationship with Tom, Carly explained that she met the actor more as a child and that they often went on family vacations together.
