Toni Braxton's 2 Kids: All About Denim and Diezel Braxton-Lewis

Toni Braxton is the proud mother of her children: Denim and Diezel Braxton-Lewis.

The Grammy-winning R&B singer shares children with ex-husband Keri Lewis. The former couple, who married in 1998, had their first child, Denim, in 2001. Less than two years later, their second son, Diezel, was born.

“Motherhood is my favorite thing in the world. I love being a mother,” Toni once said in an interview for A healthy life.

Speaking with Today In 2006, Toni spoke openly about balancing parenthood with her career and the challenges of travel.

“It was difficult, I can’t deny that,” she said, adding, “I’m a real mother, really involved in my children and their daily activities.”

Denim Cole Braxton-Lewis, 23

Toni welcomed her first child, son Denim Cole Braxton-Lewis, on December 2, 2001.

“My son, Denim, should have been spelled Denham, like Oldham, but when we were in the hospital, in Atlanta, the nurse said, ‘How’s little baby Den-ham?’ So we started writing it as jeans,” she previously explained to ALL RIGHT! Magazine by her choice of name.

She added: “I think names can define you. I think it’s important for kids to have their own identity.”

After splitting in 2009, Toni and Keri finalized their divorce in 2013. While sitting down for an interview with AmoMama, Denim spoke about his parents’ divorce, saying, “They maintained a great friendship, which really helped me and my brother feel comfortable.”

He went on to explain that “because they got along so well,” the divorce didn’t affect his relationship with his parents.

Denim played basketball throughout high school, and when he graduated in 2020, he enrolled in a sports management degree at Grand Canyon University.

In recent years, Denim became interested in modeling and fashion.

He joined his brother on the runway for Marcello Von Berlin’s Spring 2022 show in Los Angeles, and they also appeared in a Diesel campaign alongside their famous mother.

Diezel Ky Braxton-Lewis, 21

On March 31, 2003, Toni gave birth to her second child, a son, Diezel Ky Braxton-Lewis.

When Diezel turned one, Toni began to notice that his development was delayed. Two years later, he was diagnosed with autism, and Toni experienced different emotions because of it.

“Many times parents deny it because they want to think that their child is perfect. But these children simply need to be taught differently,” she said. “I’ve accepted it. I’ve come to terms with it. He’s a wonderful kid.”

After his diagnosis, Toni became involved with the organization Autism Speaks in 2010. She and then 7-year-old Diezel even participated in a PSA together for WEtv. Over the years, she credited the organization with helping her.

At the age of 9, Diezel made his debut in the movie Lifetime, Twist of Faith, in which his famous mom also starred.

He initially intended to play her son in the film, but Toni eventually backed out, saying, “I thought carrying a film and trying to do film and teaching would be too much for him.”

When Diezel was 15, he started modeling. In 2021, he graduated from his private high school in Los Angeles. He celebrated a special moment with both his parents and his older brother.

Toni congratulated her younger son with a photo on Instagram, sharing what’s in store for him with a caption that read: “Mommy is so proud of you. 💜 Howard University is coming!”
