Tory Lanez’s Wife Raina Chassagne Files for Divorce amid His 10-Year Prison Sentence

Raina Nancy Chassagne, wife of Tory Lanez, has filed for divorce after less than a year of marriage to the disgraced hip hop star.

In court documents obtained by PEOPLE on Monday, June 10, Chassagne lists the wedding date as June 25, 2023. The separation date is listed as June 1, 2024.

Chassagne and Lanez, 31, (whose real name is Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson) are also parents to a 7-year-old son, Kai’lon, of whom she is seeking legal and physical custody.

Chassagne cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

Lanez is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion (whose real name is Megan Pete) in the feet in the summer of 2020 in the Hollywood Hills.

“I fear with presence. After everything that’s happened, I can’t go back to being in the same room with Tory,” the Houston native wrote in part. “I was tortured and terrorized.”

The incident followed an altercation involving Lanez, Megan and her former assistant and ex-friend Kelsey Harris after the three left a pool party held at Kylie Jenner’s Los Angeles home on July 12, 2020.

In September 2023, Lanez was denied bail by Judge David Herriford, who cited the rapper’s “violent felony conviction” and his “history of violating court orders.”

Herriford also brought up Lanez’s protection orders, which he had previously violated, and said he was at risk of deportation because he is a Canadian citizen.
