A tourist died Friday after falling approximately 70 feet from a cliff in New York’s Minnewaska State Park.

Nur Aisyah Binte, MD Akbar was hiking the Beacon Hill Trail with her husband, Abdul Rauf Bin Mohd Said, when they stopped to take photos at the edge of a cliff and she lost her footing, the New York State Police said in a press release.

“Right after Ais fell off the cliff, I rushed forward, I slipped, but I didn’t fall off the cliff. (Believe me, I wished it was me). I shouted for help at the top of my voice, and the three sisters, who heard my crying, they rushed to me with their father and aunt,” he wrote in his post.

Bin Mohd Said wrote that he used his phone’s camera to zoom in on the spot where his wife fell as her three sisters approached her. According to Bin Mohd Said, Binte MD Akbar was still breathing when they arrived.

“The sisters said that Ais told them her name, that she had two dogs and that she really wanted to drink sweet tea. One of the guards who was with her told me the same thing. And she kept telling them thank you,” he wrote.

Bin Mohd Said explained that it took almost three hours to evacuate Binte MD Akbar, as the authorities had to cut down some trees to make way for the helicopter.

“So much time passed from the time she fell to the time she got into the ambulance, but I didn’t even notice the time had passed. When they finally evacuated her, the paramedics informed me that she was no longer breathing, and I broke down . We rushed to the nearest hospital, where it was confirmed that she did not survive and passed away,” Bin Mohd Said wrote.

In another Facebook post, Bin Mohd Said said he and his wife were at the park to “look back and reflect on the year”.
