According to DW SportLeipzig fans were left “almost speechless” after the shocking incident.
It was also reported that a pre-match car accident claimed the life of a Monchengladbach fan.
This further contributed to the dark atmosphere on the ground.
RB Leipzig celebrated 2-0 over the visitors in a desperately sad night for both clubs.

The result sees Leipzig just one point behind fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund in the race for Champions League places.
