Travis Kelce and the Chiefs Snag Win Over Vikings — Without Taylor Swift in the Stands This Week

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs pulled out a victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday — this time, without Taylor Swift in the stands.

The Chiefs finished on top, 27-20, but the game was full of drama, especially for Kelce. With minutes to go before halftime, the tight end, 34, slipped and turned his ankle at an awkward angle while trying to move the ball downfield. Kelce limped off the court and was sent to the locker room for X-rays as his team finished the first half.

But Kelce was able to return to the game with a badly taped right ankle, later picking up more yards and a touchdown in the third quarter.

This was Kelce and the Chiefs’ first game in three weeks without their newest fan, Swift. In the midst of her tumultuous relationship with the two-time Super Bowl champion, she cheered on Kelce in his suite, often with his mother, Donna Kelce, by her side.

But after two games in the stands where Kelce was a fan — against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24 and the New York Jets on Oct. 1 — Swift was left without this win.

The intense focus on Kelce and Swift over the past few games has led to backlash from fans, with even the NFL star saying he thinks the league “went a little overboard.”

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end admitted, “I think it’s fun when they show who was at the game. I think it brings a little more atmosphere, it brings a little more to what you’re watching. But at the same time when I think—”

“They’re exaggerating,” Jason finished, to which Travis agreed, “They’re probably exaggerating a bit, especially in my situation. [But] I think they just want to have fun with it.”

Kelce and Swift are “still getting to know each other,” a source told PEOPLE earlier this week, adding, “It’s nothing too serious.”

Although Kelce is spending time with Swift, “he’s focused on football as always,” the source says. “During the NFL season, his priority is the Chiefs, and it’s all about the team.”
