Travis Kelce Says He's 'Having Fun' with His Facial Hair and Is Like a 'Different Character with the 'Stache'

Travis Kelce shares the inspiration behind his ‘mustache’.

During the Wednesday, August 28, season 3 premiere episode of The New heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, Travis, 34, talked about getting his facial hair back to prepare for the 2024-2025 NFL season.

“I always do the Andy Reid special, baby,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said, referring to his team’s head coach, who also sports a mustache.

“However, my hair grew back. I changed it… no [have] haircut,” Travis added about wearing a shorter dress before.

“I’m not a Super Trooper, I’m more… kind of a different character with a ‘mustache,'” he continued, appearing to refer to the facial hair featured in the 2001 film. Super Troopers.

Travis continued, “But, yeah, I’m just having a little fun with it. And when I’m in training camp, I really don’t care what I look like. I just want to be out there and try to make it the most enjoyable experience ever.”

The football star pointed out that he “officially spent a whole year” of his life in the training camp of the Chiefs St. Joseph at Missouri Western State University as he enters his 12th season with the team in 2024.

“12 years of sitting in the same dorm room over there at Missouri Western State University,” Travis commented. “I feel like I’m going to jail every time I do this, but it’s like a sanctuary for me at this point.”

“I get to work on my craft and I don’t think about anything else that’s going on. And, like, I can really, like, tune up, you know, my athleticism, man,” he continued, adding, “I” Learned to love it out, so I say this and it doesn’t sound appealing, but I really like it.

The Chiefs played three preseason games, and the regular season begins on September 5 when the team plays against the Baltimore Ravens.

Travis’ comments about the mustache come after his latest look was revealed on July 21 when he appeared at training camp with his Chiefs teammates in a video shared on Instagram.

The team captioned the two photos and a video of Travis thanking fans for coming out to cheer them on, “KILLA STACHE IS BACK 👨🏻”

The NFL star, who has rocked a variety of facial hair over the years, previously joked on an episode of his New heights podcast for which the mustache is especially when there are “no paid appearances, or I’m not amenable to doing anything where I have to partner with a company and look decent.”
