Tripura NEP in High Schools: The State of Tripura is poised to implement National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in all Colleges and Universities from the 2023-24 school year. According to the report, admissions to all university colleges will be conducted on the basis of NEP 2020.
Tripura has 25 comprehensive colleges affiliated to Tripura University and Maharaja Bir Bikram University. Tripura’s Director of Higher Education, Nripendra Sharma, while speaking to the media, said that, under NEP, students will be offered a four-year degree program with exit opportunities.
Students who wish to choose to participate in the three-year program will receive a UG degree in their major upon completion of the program. UG Honors in a Major will be awarded to students who complete the four-year program. Vocational courses will also be introduced at all universities.
The Director General of Higher Education also added that this year, about 49,662 candidates have applied for admission to colleges across the country. A total of 28,342 places are offered at the university. He also added that a large number of the 49,662 students will choose medical, mechanical and other majors courses, while the rest are guaranteed a place in the general faculty. It should be noted that all of them may not receive the course or institute of their choice due to the limited number of seats.
