However, Troy became one of the deadliest gator hunters over the years and was nicknamed the “King of the Swamp” as a result of his experience and success hunting gators. His knowledge allows him to hunt alligators in both the east and west zones of the swamp, extending his alligator season to 60 days instead of just 30, potentially doubling his income.

In 2010, Troy and his family, along with other gator hunting families, were selected for a new History Channel series, “Swamp People,” which will document their activities during gator season in the Louisiana swamps.
