Troye Sivan Asked Harry Styles to Accompany Him to the Restroom When They Met: ‘Weirdest, Worst Thing’

Troye Sivan got a “rush” of embarrassment the first time he met Harry Styles.

The Australian singer, 28, sat down for an interview with a British radio show KISS Breakfast and recalled the funny moment when he met the British superstar (29) for the first and only time.

The pop star began the anecdote, which was shared on KISS’s TikTok, by asking host Harriet Rose: “Do you want to know a very funny story?”

Troye Sivan says people are ’embarrassed’ by his positive self-image: ‘I like my body’

Sivan explained that he met the “Watermelon Sugar” singer after the 2023 Grammy Awards, during which he took home the awards for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year. “The first and only time I met Harry Styles, we were at this Grammy party — he actually just won the Grammy for Album of the Year,” the “Got Me Started” singer said.

“I’m like super, super cool, and he walks up to this conversation I’m already having,” Sivan recalled. “And that’s how we met and I feel like I know him because that’s Harry Styles.”

However, the “Bloom” singer explained that he quickly became a little uncomfortable because he was on his way to the bathroom at the time. “I was just saying to other people, ‘Oh, I’m just going to make pizzas,’ and then he arrived,” he explained.

“I say to him, ‘Oh, my God, Mazel. Congratulations on the Grammys or whatever,” Sivan explained. “Then he said, ‘I’m just going to the bathroom,’ and I said, ‘Oh, you’re going to the bathroom? I’m going to the bathroom too. Let’s go!”

“We were walking to the bathroom, I kind of just realized, ‘I’ve literally just met this man and I’ve already suggested we go to the bathroom together,'” the singer-songwriter hilariously recalled.

He explained that the interaction immediately came to mind and began to think about how it might have sounded to the former One Direction member. Sivan said: “I thought, ‘I wonder how he feels about this. Was that the weirdest, worst thing I could have said at that moment?’”

The musician/actor was able to find a way out of the situation, but ended up fixating on it for the rest of the night and never saw the “As It Was” performer after that. “Someone stopped him on the way and I rushed to the bathroom, embarrassed,” the hitmaker said. “I thought about it the rest of the night: Why did I just ask Harry Styles if we should go to the bathroom together?”

Troye Sivan on Coming Out Before Career Start: ‘I Didn’t Want Anyone to Take That Away From Me’

The Australian star, who is about to release her third studio album Something to give each other on Friday, also recently opened The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

He told the talk show host how, when he was younger, he knew in a strange way if his performances went well. The “Rush” singer admitted: “Back then, my barometer of a successful performance was crying moms. That was always my biggest goal, and if I did it, then I thought it was a successful performance.”

“I would put it on so thick,” he joked on the late-night show. “I was, like, you know, smiling at the camera, like I’d do anything to win those moms over… And it worked. It worked.”

On Friday, Sivan will release his first album since 2018. The project is described in a press release as “a celebration of sex, dance, sweat, community, queerness, love and friendship.”

The singles “Rush” and “Got Me Started” dropped in July and September, respectively, to boast.
