TV Veterinarian Dr. Pol Tackles Big Project with His Family in New Show The Incredible Pol Farm (Exclusive)

After years of helping animals, veterinarian Dr. Jan Pol is building them a home.

The beloved TV vet — who took viewers behind the scenes of his practice on Nat Geo WILD, The amazing Dr. Polsince 2011 — is trying something new, and has a new show to go with it.

Amazing half farm premiering on Nat Geo WILD on January 6. The show follows a Michigan veterinarian and three generations of his family as they work together to turn 350 acres of undeveloped land into a fully functioning family farm.

PEOPLE got a sneak peek at the new show. In an exclusive clip, which will serve as an introduction to the upcoming series, Dr. Pol explains how he decided to try his hand at agriculture.

“I’ve been doing this veterinary business for 50 years. I’ve worked with farmers all my life,” the vet says in the video, as the clip shows some of Dr. Pol’s former clients, including pigs, cows and cats.

“Michigan is a good place for farmers,” he continues. “There are dairy farms here, lots of crop growing. It has very good soil.”

dr. Pol also reveals that he has experience in breeding. As the clip shows photos from the vet’s early life, Dr. Pol explains that his family had a hobby farm “many, many years ago.”

“We had geese. We had chickens, turkeys, rabbits. We had everything you have on a farm,” he says.

Now the Pol family “starts all over again”.

dr. Pol is assisted in this project by his son, Charles Pol, who has his own perspective on how the project will unfold.

“You’re just ordering me around,” Charles teases.

“I’m only here as the brains behind the muscles,” his dad retorts.

In the clip, Charles explains some of the work that goes into “literally building a farm,” including building a barn, bringing in animals and more.

“Luckily, I have a big family,” Charles says as the video shows footage of his children interacting with the animals.

Father and son end the clip by discussing their excitement about the project and “working together” as a family.
