U2's The Edge Reveals Rule That Keeps His 22-Year Marriage to Morleigh Steinberg Going Strong (Exclusive)

On Saturday, May 11, the singer-songwriter, 62, and his wife of 22 years his junior, Morleigh Steinberg, spoke with PEOPLE and revealed the secret of their marriage of more than two decades as he was honored at the inaugural HEART ceremony at the Venice Family Clinic Gala.

“I think compatibility and friendship is a big thing for us,” said The Edge, whose real name is David Evans. “We fell in love, but we knew each other well, and I’d say let’s keep falling in love. It doesn’t just happen once. It happens all the time.”

Steinberg — a choreographer, dancer and director — agreed with that sentiment. – It’s true – she said.

Bono says his family ‘didn’t talk’ about his mother Iris after she died when he was 14: ‘Very Irish male situation’

The couple was presented with the first HEART Award during Saturday’s event, a result of their contributions to the Venice Family Clinic — which provides “comprehensive, high-quality health care, free food, health insurance enrollment assistance and harm reduction services” to more than 45,000 people, according to its website .

“It’s so amazing to be here and such an amazing thing to be honored in this way,” The Edge said. “I mean, it’s humbling, and we’re so thrilled to help in any way we can. We’re a huge supporter of the clinic. It’s so important.”

Steinberg, who grew up in Venice, added that the honor was a “dream” and that she and her husband were “so happy to be able to help.”

Other members of U2 have been open about their family lives in recent months, including Bono. During the performance at Kelly Corrigan wonders podcast earlier this week, the musician revealed that his family didn’t talk about his mother after she died when he was 14.

As Bono said, he got “very few details about my mother” Iris and wrote his memoirs in 2022. Presentation: 40 songs, one story to “get some of those memories out of that river.”
