UGC . Fee Refund Rules

UGC Tuition Refund Policy: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed higher education institutions to ensure compliance with the tuition reduction policy for the 2023-24 academic year. In an official announcement, the committee reported that it had received numerous objections or complaints from students and parents about higher education institutions’ refunds of tuition fees after withdrawal or cancellation of enrollment.

UGC also states that students must receive a full refund of their tuition fees within a certain period of time in order to select the program of their choice. The Committee considered the matter at its 570th session, to be held on 27 June 2023.

Fee return policy Elements

The Commission has listed several elements for the return policy listed below:

  • Notwithstanding anything contained in any guidance/prospectus/announcement/schedule, HEIs will fully reimburse fees due to all student cancellations/relocations for up to September 30, 2023 and deduct no more than Rs 1,000/- as handling fee until October 31, 2023.
  • All higher education institutions violate the provisions of the UGC rules on tuition reimbursement 2023-2024. would be eligible for criminal action as mentioned in Article 5 of the UGC notice of fee refund and failure to keep the original certificate issued in October 2018.
