Scooter, who relies on a wheeled cart due to his inverted hind legs, showed off his adorable features during the event. His distinctive tongue hangs loosely from his mouth, and he has a distinctive hairstyle, with white wisps of hair coming out of his face and tail, which caught the judges’ attention.
Catherine Liang, one of the judges of the competition, noted that Scooter reminded her in an endearing way of a hairy hippopotamus. Initially saddened by his condition, the judges discovered his true charm and loving nature through mutual communication. They particularly admired Scooter’s self-sufficiency, which added to his appeal.
Scooter’s path to the title was unexpected. Originally brought to animal control in Tucson, Arizona by a breeder with the intention of euthanizing him, he was eventually rescued by the rescue group Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE). Linda Elmquist, his current owner, gave him a chance for a normal life.
Despite his unique physical traits, Scooter not only survives, but thrives, oblivious to any differences he might have from other dogs, according to his bio.

The competition for the ugliest dog in the world
The Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California hosts an annual event known as the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest. This competition, which takes place in the fourth week of June, aims to determine the ugliest dog among the participants.
