New York’s favorite food is reaching new heights—literally.
Magnolia Bakery, a pastry shop known for the desired cakes with glaze and the look of the original Sex and the city series, is now offering their famous banana pudding on United Airlines flights nationwide.
Called Banana Pudding Wafer Cookie Bits, the embedded version differs from the bakery’s original pudding, which is made with fresh bananas, vanilla wafers and fluffy vanilla pudding, The 3 oz. the pudding cup, described as a “wafer cookie wonderland” on the website, is a freeze-to-thaw recipe that includes mashed bananas and wafer cookie pieces.

For now, the pudding will be served as part of the in-flight meal — but only to passengers traveling in first class on flights longer than 901 miles, according to a press release. Dessert cups are also available at select grocers and retailers nationwide for those looking to sample while on the field.

The Delta Magnolia partnership joins other major carriers adding more well-known comfort food brands to their on-board menus. In November, Delta Airlines and Shake Shack announced that they would begin serving the chain’s cheeseburgers on flights from Boston, but with plans to expand to “other US markets during 2025.” Like United’s Magnolia offering, the All-American Classic will be limited to passengers in first class and “on routes longer than 900 miles.”

In 2021, JetBlue announced that passengers in its premium Mint cabin can choose from a rotating menu of restaurant-style small plates — like baby lettuce salad with pickled pears, lamb shoulder with Brussels sprouts and potato crumble, and flat iron steak with squash caponata — from chef Ryan Hardy and Delicious Hospitality Group, the team behind popular New York spots Charlie Bird and Pasquale Jones. The group has also created a menu of craft cocktails, which are shaken right on board before being served.
Thanks to a partnership with DIG, JetBlue transatlantic fliers can choose healthy by building custom cereal or salad bowls with all the extras from the seatback entertainment system.
