New DU BTech Programs: According to media reports, the University of Delhi will launch 3 BTech programs with a capacity of 360 students, who will gain admission into these engineering courses through JEE Main in the upcoming course. The new course will include BTech Computing and Engineering, BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering and BTech Electrical Engineering.

These programs will be implemented by the Faculty of Technology. The university’s executive board will hear a proposal on the topic on Friday. In April, the Department of Education authorized that institution to open 72 teaching positions and 48 non-teaching positions for the new curriculum. The University of Delhi has set up a committee in 2021 to plan the implementation of the new programmes.

“The Commission has held a number of meetings over the past year and a half and systematically discussed various issues within its scope of work to facilitate the launch of the three programs,” the official said. BTech in the Faculty of Technology in the new subject areas of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.”

The Committee recommends that classroom and laboratory spaces be allocated for BTech programs until a building dedicated to the Faculty of Technology is constructed and operational. “The Board has authorized the Vice-Chancellor to decide on the space and other essential physical infrastructure to initiate these B.Tech programmes,” the report reads.

Strengths of students in each subject

The report says that in the first year, each major will have 120 students, meaning a total of 360 students will be admitted. BTech programs will be designed in such a way that a minimum of 50% of the weight will be given to the main area of ​​study with a maximum weight of 65%. While the remaining weight will be on minor subject areas of study.
