Usher Shares New Details About His Super Bowl Wedding With Wife Jennifer Goicoechea!

While attending the 2024 NAACP Image Awards on Saturday night, the 45-year-old “You Make Me Wanna” singer spoke with Party tonight about his recent nuptials – and how the happy occasion surprised even their families.

“It was an incredible moment,” he told the newspaper of marrying 40-year-old Goicoechea.

Although he hinted that the couple still plans to have another “amazing, over-the-top wedding,” he said they decided to tie the knot legally the night he performed the Super Bowl Halftime Show as a “capstone to an incredible run in Las Vegas.”

He meant his residence, My waywhich ended in December 2023.

“My mother was there, her mother was there, our children were there, our immediate family was there,” he said, revealing that everyone was “surprised” when he and Goicoechea — who have been dating since 2018 .—told their loved ones that they got married in Las Vegas.

“Actually, everyone was surprised,” the “Burn” singer recalled. “I say, ‘No no no no, we’re having a wedding right now.’ They ask, ‘What?’ ”

Laughing, he explained that he had told his family that he and Goicoechea “will go and have Elvis serve us”.

In February, PEOPLE exclusively confirmed that the couple’s wedding took place in Vegas Weddings’ The Fast Lane tunnel. Usher’s mother, Jonnetta Patton, was the couple’s witness, according to the marriage certificate.

At Saturday’s NAACP Image Awards, Usher was presented with a presidential award, and he took a moment during his speech to acknowledge Goicoechee and some of the other women in his life.

“They say that behind or next to or with every strong man is a stronger woman, and for that I thank my mother and my beautiful wife, Jennifer, for holding me,” he said. “My children, I love you guys so much.”
