Valerie Bertinelli Jokes She Has the 'Knees of a 9-Year-Old' as She Shows Off a Large Bandage on Her Leg

Valerie Bertinelli is not afraid to admit her clumsiness!

On Friday, Nov. 29, the Food Network alum, 64, shared that she recently suffered a gash from a fall — which she says is common.

“I still have the knees of a nine-year-old because I fall too often than is comfortable for someone my actual age,” Bertinelli wrote on her Instagram Stories, sharing a selfie in which she made a silly face and showed off a large bandage placed just below one of her knees.

She did not provide further details about the injury.

Bertinella’s announcement about her knee injury comes shortly after she opened up about another aspect of her health on social media.

On Sunday, November 17, former Valerie’s Home Cooking presenter — who recently split from boyfriend Mike Goodnough after 10 months of dating — revealed in a “scary” and “vulnerable” Instagram post that she suffered an anxiety attack.

Alongside a video of her hand shaking, the star captioned her message, “I’ve been sitting on this post all day because she’s incredibly vulnerable and that’s always scary to share. But I’m posting because we’re all here doing our best to have human experience and none of us wants to feel like we are alone in it. 🤍V.”

After taking a “deep breath,” Bertinelli began by saying she suffered a “really bad anxiety attack,” as the clip shows. She also noted that her “heart is still beating a little fast as I write this.”

“I haven’t had this in a very, very long time,” the star continued. “A few hours ago, I was crying uncontrollably, and my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. I couldn’t stop shaking.”

Bertinelli detailed that she decided to share her experience because she’s “pretty sure I’m not the only one who has experienced this.”

“Fortunately, these attacks have become much less frequent, so this one surprised me a little today. This is an aftereffect,” she added.

When Bertinelli experiences anxiety attacks, she said, she “almost dissociates[s]” and focuses “solely on calming down and finding any way to a more relaxed and peaceful body” because she knows it’s the result of “my brain overthinking and catastrophizing, but my body is speeding up and I have no control over it.”

The star ended her post by writing that she was “fascinated by what the human body is capable of” and asked her fans how they deal with similar experiences.

“Tell me I’m not the only one here 😬 and is there anything you’ve also found useful?” wrote Bertinelli. “Anyway… this bit of vulnerability is brought to you by someone who wants you to know you’re not alone. I love you 🤍.”
