Profession
as an entrepreneur
Vandana’s vision is to bring beauty and health to every Indian home and make her brand VLCC a household name. According to her, it is difficult to be a female entrepreneur in a male-dominated society. In 1989, she used her savings and bank loans to open her first store in Krishna Nagar, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi. In a video, Vandana explained that it was a running facility that was about to close and was a thousand square feet near a bullpen. She also works with doctors and medical professionals to provide aesthetic services and weight management programs.
“My approach was scientific and I started working with doctors from day one. This also worked to our advantage. It was clear to me from day one that this brand was not going to be a glamorous one. The center is a clinic, too. It was planned that way.”
Since then, VLCC has become a well-known brand in India and even abroad (South Asia, Southeast Asia, GCC region and East Africa). The company has expanded from a health and beauty center to a training institute with over 90 VLCC Beauty and Nutrition Colleges worldwide.
VLCC has its own R&D center and Vandana ensures that the company is always up to date with the latest technology.
