Vanessa Lachey Says Love Is Blind Season 6 Reunion ‘Stirs Things Up,’ Will Bring ‘Closure’ for ‘a Lot of People’ (Exclusive)

Vanessa Lachey is ready to dig for answers Love is blind burning fan questions.

Speaking with PEOPLE ahead of the Season 6 reunion (which premieres Wednesday night on Netflix), Vanessa teased that the reunion will bring plenty of drama — and some much-needed closure after a rollercoaster season.

“Season 6 was everything… I feel like so many people relate to it, whether it’s a beautiful moment that makes you cry and say ‘ouch,’ or a horrible moment that makes you can’t look away, we’ve all done those things “, He said NCIS: Hawaii star, 43, explains the show she co-hosts with husband Nick Lachey. “I know I’ve been that girl in a relationship in some creepy moments, but luckily I didn’t play mine on television.”

She continues, “But for them, even though there’s one side that some of them are angry about, I think after talking to them, they’re all very grateful for the experience they’ve had… [and for] find out something about yourself and have this opportunity to dive inside, towards yourself.”

The season 6 reunion trailer was released last week, showing the cast – Johnny McIntyre, Amy Cortés, Jimmy Presnell, Chelsea Blackwell, Clay Gravesande, Amber Desiree “AD” Smith, Jeramey Lutinski, Laura Dadisman, Sarah Ann Bick, Trevor Sova, Kenneth Gorman and Brittany Mills — return to update fans on what’s happened since the cameras stopped rolling.

From Vanessa’s perspective, she believes the reunion is “a great opportunity for all of our friends from Season 6 to tell their side of the story, what we didn’t see, what we didn’t feel, what we didn’t know.”

Vanessa also notes that Netflix and Love is blindProduction company Kinetic Content “doesn’t want to have any ‘moments’ with all of our Season 6 friends. They want to experience the experiment from beginning to end.”

“So this is an opportunity for them to say, ‘Hey, this part didn’t air, and here’s what I felt, and what I went through, and that was me, but I learned, and I had a year of therapy and talking with friends, and now I’m better’ or whatever,” he explains. “I believe that reunions always end for many people or stir things up for others.”

A first for the series, the reunion was filmed in front of a live audience and will feature the return of several of them Love is blind female students, including Season 1’s Giannina Gibelli, Season 3’s Alexa Alfia Lemieux and Brennon Lemieux, as well as Colleen Reed and Matt Bolton; season 4 Kwame Appiah and Chelsea Griffin Appiah, Brett Brown and Tiffany Pennywell Brown, and Micah Lussier, and season 5 Izzy Zapata.

Having those people in the room brought a special kind of “energy” while filming the special, according to Vanessa.

“There’s a lot of eyes on this. It was really nice to get the family back together,” she says. “And they’re so fun at the reunion because they add another layer that I don’t think anyone will expect.”

“They’re already sitting outside, they’re on the couches and they’re facing the stage, and there’s the live audience that we had, so you can feel that energy,” she continues. “But the great thing is that we were able to shoot this for over five hours and let people have their say, tell their story from beginning, middle to end, without rushing, without missing anyone. And then they put together a wonderful assembly that I think everyone will love it.”

The highly-anticipated reunion will debut a week after the Season 6 finale airs on Netflix, showing the three remaining couples preparing to say “I do” or “I don’t.” Before the finale, Kenneth and Brittany and Laura and Jeramey both called off their engagements.

In the last episode, Jimmy broke off his engagement to Chelsea after several explosive arguments, including one that ultimately broke Jimmy’s trust. Clay and AD made it to the altar, and AD said “I do” to Clay – who responded with “no”, claiming he was “not ready” for marriage. As for Amy and Johnny, they got married, proving that love can be blind after all.
