Vanna White and Pat Sajak's Daughter Take Viewers Behind the Wheel of Fortune Game Board Ahead of Pat's Retirement

Maggie Sajak, daughter of Vanna White and Pat Sajak, gives fans a glimpse of what really continues behind Wheel of Fortune game board.

Maggie, the show’s social media correspondent, posted a backstage video on Instagram with her father, who will retire from the show on June 7 after more than four decades as host. She wrote a rare look from the iconic set of the series with the title “Secrets behind the puzzle board!!👀.”

“Look who I found!” Maggie, 29, began the video as she panned the camera to reveal Pat, 77.

The presenter noted that the space looked like an “election headquarters” with many TV screens. He added: “I think I see some presenters.”

At the audience’s request, Maggie agreed to show viewers what goes on behind the scenes, but Pat said they couldn’t show much because “there are certain things that are strictly confidential.” He then motioned his daughter towards a small table with bottles of water from Fiji labeled “Pat’s Water”.

“They gave me enough to last me the rest of the season,” he joked.

In a separate video posted to her Instagram, White, 67, showed off the treats available at the refreshments table. In addition to “crocheting, short” and watching the upcoming puzzles, he takes a box of nuts.

“They used to bring cookies. They were bringing chips. They brought all the bad snacks and I ate them,” informed White. “I said, don’t bring them anymore.”

The show now offers only two options: nuts and chocolate — the latter the host tries to avoid.

Pat Sajak Sets Wheel of Fortune Retirement date after 4 decades as host

Last June, Pat announced on Xu (formerly Twitter) that the show was in its 41st season Wheel of Fortune would be his last. The season 41 finale, aptly titled “Thanks for the Memories,” will air next week and mark his last episode on the program, which he joined as host in 1981.

“It’s been a wonderful ride and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Thank you all so much. (If nothing else, they’ll take over the clickbait sites!),” Pat wrote on Xu at the time.

White, Pat’s longtime co-host, told PEOPLE in October 2023 that she considered leaving the show with her professional partner. However, she admitted that she was “not ready to retire” and decided to stay on the syndicated game show through the 2025-2026 season.

Ryan Seacrest will take Pat’s place, the role American Idol the host said he was “truly humbled” to assume.

“I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White,” Seacrest, 49, said in a statement following news of the hiring.
