While Knull is the creator of the symbiotes in both Sony’s Spider-Man universe and Marvel’s comics, it’s worth noting that this status doesn’t stop the creatures from attacking him in the original series. In the comics, the symbiotes that bonded with other creatures introduced positive concepts like compassion and honor to the alien species, allowing them to choose a new path forward for themselves, before the collective symbiote hive mind trapped Knull inside.
Logically, this approach could also be adopted in film, especially because Venom: The Last Dance The trailer appears to show Knull on the planet Klyntar – the homeworld of the symbiotes, who in the comics get their name from the word “cage” in the symbiotes’ name, referring to the fact that they trapped Knull in its core. While Klyntar is named in the Venom series, this event may not have happened in-universe yet – or, if it has, this history could be used to inspire Venom to ensnare Knull once again.
In the comics, Venom fights Knull more directly, but it’s hard to imagine how Venom would do that in a live-action film, since it wasn’t long before Venom was shown fighting other symbiotes, let alone the god who created them. Instead, if Venom is to defeat Knull, it would require linking up with the hive mind, using that mind bond to turn the others against Knull, using their numbers to outwit the villain – though depending on how things work in this universe, this action might require Venom to sacrifice himself.

The Venom trilogy isn’t just about the big battle or the exploration of symbiote lore, it’s also about the bond between the Venom symbiote and Eddie Brock, and how that bond ultimately helps two characters who thought they were underdogs. This emotional connection is a core element of the movies, and it also means that the end of the trilogy has to acknowledge its importance in some way, and the trailer supports the idea that the movies intend to do just that by dealing with the strange but remarkable connection between the two.
So using all of Eddie and Venom’s close encounters over the course of the movie — and all of the life lessons Eddie teaches Venom, and perhaps most importantly, about not killing innocent people — as a core plot element would make all of those moments a set-up for Gnar’s defeat. Venom: The Last Dance As hinted, the story ends with the death of one or both of the duo, which would ensure that the ending is still relatively positive in some ways given what it means for the partnership to free the symbiote and save humanity.
Since the other Venom movies have also centered around symbiote-on-symbiote conflict, this approach would also provide a poignant conclusion to these past struggles by having the remaining symbiotes band together against their cruel creators. It’s hard to believe that Venom alone can achieve meaningful, lasting change and redemption — especially since comic book lore suggests that’s not the case for both its hero and antihero symbiotes — so ending with this would resolve that issue as best as possible in the series’ finale.

Venom: The Last Dance Defeating Knull by adapting a comic book storyline in which the hive mind trapped him is also a useful approach as it doesn’t kill Knull, thus leaving the door still open – something Marvel could exploit in future installments. It’s unclear if Sony’s Spider-Verse will continue Kraven the HunterBut if that’s the case, having such a major character easily able to return to the series could no doubt spark interest in its sequel, regardless of whether Venom will appear again.
Even if Sony’s Spider-Man universe doesn’t follow up with Knull, the Marvel Universe timeline will definitely feature this villain in the future, especially as the multiverse legend remains the main storyline of the series. In fact, many theories have emerged around this topic. Spider-Man 4 Continuing with the story, this is very likely, as the MCU and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe have crossed over before, and Earth-616 still seems to have a portion of the Venom symbiote. Regardless, it’s clear that Venom: The Last Dance It will end the trilogy in dramatic fashion.
