A veteran who lost a leg spoke of the moment he learned a similarly injured dog was his.
Dane Orozco (42 years old) has struggled with severe depression and anxiety for the 5 years since having her leg amputated.
But he recently met Kane, a three-legged German Shepherd, at a local animal shelter and ‘instantly fell in love’ with him and his story.
Dane, from Los Angeles, California, said: ‘I lost my leg in 2016 due to an infection. He has influenced me in many ways, good and bad.
‘Mostly bad because I’m not the man I used to be.’ I can still do things, but it takes more time and effort to do the things I want to do and that causes depression and anxiety every day.
‘I went to the shelter just to watch because I was depressed and the only thing that made me happy in the past was having my dogs.
‘When I saw Kane, I immediately told myself I was going to take him home. I immediately fell in love with him. Both have their right legs amputated.’

Dane said his beloved pet has adapted perfectly to his new life and is becoming stronger and more confident.
“Sometimes it runs like it has all four legs,” Dane said. ‘He accompanies me wherever I go, no matter where I am, he is never inches away from me.
‘He changed my life so I feel better now and was the therapy I needed.
‘I can look to him when I’m down and I instantly feel better.’
He added that he was ‘delighted’ at the strong response to his touching video.
Dane said: ‘I’m so amazed at how viral this is and I never thought it would anger so many people.
I’m glad we found each other and we can be each other’s backs.’
