Victoria Beckham Says She and David Are in Their 'Next Chapter' Together as Kids 'Flee the Nest'

Victoria Beckham’s children are getting older, so she and her husband David are entering the “next chapter” of their life together.

Talking to Nicole Kidman for a Vogue Australia In a column published on August 2, the fashion designer and Spice Girls student reflected on her and David’s “accomplishments” of 25 years of marriage and the work that goes into being “the best wife, the best mom, the best professional.”

“We woke up this morning and said, ‘We’re so proud of the kids, they’re such great, kind, sweet, humble, funny, hardworking young people,'” Victoria, 50, told Kidman, 57, of the conversation with David, 49.

“It’s very difficult to get that balance. I struggled with that a lot when the kids were younger. We never had an enormous amount of staff, if you will,” she continued. “We have nannies and we have our parents, who have been amazing, but you feel like you’re juggling.”

As Victoria explained, she and the football great “didn’t have much of a social life” when her children were younger.

“Being a wife, a mom and fulfilling your dreams in terms of what your passions are and what you love to do with work was enough. But then the kids get older and they leave the nest and have their own passions. Now me and David are in the next chapter,” she said. “Even Harper, who’s 13, has her own group of friends, she likes to do her own thing and we’re super, super close, but it definitely feels like it’s the next chapter of our lives together.”

In addition to Harper, the Beckhams also share sons Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 19. Their dad, Victoria said, is someone she’s “still in love with, maybe more than when we first met.”

“We really laugh. And we really support each other in terms of our careers and passions. Last night I told him – and the kids – after 25 years, I love your dad very much and I support him and I still want him to be the best version of himself, and he’s doing that for me,” she said.

“And it’s really important for the kids to see that. I feel very thankful and grateful that I didn’t compromise my career and I can still do what I love and enjoy it. Me and David can go, just the two of us, laughing and we enjoy that time, and I think it’s so rare after so many years, every day pinches me,” she added.

Also during Vogue In the discussion, in which Victoria described her lifelong “passion to be in fashion and beauty” and her successful career in both, Kidman told Beckham that she and her husband, Keith Urban, were in the “same boat” as the Beckhams. As the Oscar winner shared, they “put a lot into the family and a lot of our social life was non-existent.”

“… And now we have to make new friends, go out more, say yes. When you raise children, [you say] ‘I can’t actually go to that,’ or you’re sick and you cancel, or you have to work, and the only thing that’s going to fall is going out and making new groups of friends,” she said.

“We’re older now — so we’re going to say, ‘OK, we as a couple have to find our next step in the world, not just based on doing things as a family.’ ”

David and Victoria Beckham celebrated their landmark 25th wedding anniversary in July with several touching Instagram posts, including one from Victoria that featured shots of their 1999 wedding cake, Victoria’s Vera Wang dress and David on a plane with loved ones.

“Looking back at the days leading up to our wedding 25 years ago brings back so many amazing memories… I love you so much @DavidBeckham,” Victoria captioned her post.
