Viewers left unimpressed with this detail after episode two of The Inheritance

The Inheritance is Channel 5’s latest TV offering and viewers were instantly hooked after watching the first episode last week. However, it seems the second episode had a detail that didn’t impress some fans watching at home.

The drama, which stars Gaynor Faye and Robert James-Collier among the cast, featured background music that some fans found uncomfortable.

One person wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Why the boring background music #TheInheritance.”

Another echoed this, commenting: “@channel5_tv #TheInheritance. PLEEEAAAASSSSEEEE people are losing the horrible background high pitched echoing music! I have tinnitus and autism and it’s literally going to my head. I had to use subtitles.”

A third fan added: “Really enjoying The Inheritance – so intriguing can’t wait for episode three #TheInheritance” and a fourth agreed: “Episode two went really well – great plot, script and acting. This series is shaping up nicely. # Heritage.”

A fifth viewer, meanwhile, said: “I love a drama where I doubt everything #TheInheritance.”

When they discover that Dennis has left everything to a mysterious woman named Susan, they embark on a dangerous journey to find out if his death was really an accident. The synopsis further explains, “As the siblings begin to question everything they thought they knew about their father, they become increasingly suspicious that this woman, Susan, has something to do with his death.

“So a seemingly harmonious and loving family begins to show the cracks created by years of secrets and jealousy. Secrets explode, relationships fall apart, and lives are lost. As the siblings desperately try to reclaim their inheritance and make sense of what’s going on around them… asking the question, is blood really thicker than water?”

There are many famous faces that make up the cast of Inheritance. Robert James-Collier plays the role of Daniel, Gaynor Faye plays Sian and Jemima Rooper plays Chloe. The children’s father is played by Larry Lamb, and Susan is played by Samantha Bond.

Samantha appeared on Monday’s episode of Loose Women to talk about her role in The Inheritance. “Everything is complicated because the children’s mother only died three or four years ago, so Susan has been a secret for a very, very long time. What’s really cool about it is that everyone has a secret and only some people know about other people.”

Speaking about how impressed she was with the script, Samantha continued: “It always starts with what’s on the page. Because if it’s not on the page, then you can’t make it up. And this one was amazing. It’s very wordy, it’s very complicated … who is telling the truth and who is not?

“That’s right, [the cast] we’d meet at the bar and go through the scripts and then go to dinner around 8 o’clock and come back to the bar around 9 o’clock and work again.”
