Vijay Anand (1934-2004) was an Indian filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, editor, and actor known for his work in Hindi films, including Guide’ (1965), ‘Teesri Manzil’ (1966), ‘The Jewel Thief’ (1967) and Johnny Meera Naam (1970). From directing nail-biting thrillers and romantic comedies to sentimental classics and family dramas, Vijay, the younger brother of filmmaker Chetan Anand and matinee idol Dev Anand, Most of his films were produced in his family’s production house “Navketan Films”. His films are known for their long-range vision and artistic approach.

Vijay Anand’s first marriage was to Loveleen. According to reports, Vijay Anand first met Lovlin when she was interviewing him on behalf of Radio Moscow. In view of Loveleen’s beauty, Vijay Anand offered her the lead role in the Hindi romantic film Jaan Kazir Hai (1975). During the making of the film, Loughlin began to connect with Vijay Anand and became fascinated with the clothes he wore as a disciple of Osho Rajneesh. Vijay eventually introduced Loughlin to the teachings of Osho Rajneesh, and Loughlin was completely fascinated by it. According to some sources, the two of them frequently visited the Rajneesh Ashram in Pune and spent about ten days a month there. Loughlin’s faith in Osho Rajneesh grew and her affection for Vijay Anand also grew, and she decided to move from Delhi to Rajneesh’s ashram in Pune. Later, Loughlin proposed to Vijay Anand; but he rejected the proposal, saying that he had brought nothing with him except a few clothes and shoes. This did not sway Loughlin’s decision to marry Vijay Anand. She later gave up her offer to do the film Jaan Hazir Hai as she thought Vijay did not want his wife to star in the film. Loughlin kept assuring Vijay that the only thing that mattered to her was spending her life with him. According to reports, one day Guru Rajneesh called Lovering and Vijay Anand to his private room and handed Lovering’s hand to Vijay. Vijay Anand married Loveleen and lived his married life with her in Pune with the blessings of Osho Rajneesh. All was going well until Loughlin expressed her desire to continue working in films one fine day and asked Vijay Anand to write a script in which she would play the female lead opposite a superstar actor. According to sources, Vijay decided not to pay attention to Loughlin’s request, but later, her desire to become a heroine grew day by day. These demands manifested themselves into heated arguments between the couple, as Vijay wanted to escape the false world of showbiz and wanted to continue working for the ashram. Some sources also claim that Vijay’s mental health suffered due to frequent fights and arguments. After experiencing frequent quarrels and quarrels with Loveline, Vijay decided to end this failed marriage.

- Vijay Anand had faith in spirituality and astronomy and was a disciple of mystical and spiritual guru Rajneesh; however, when he could not find a solution to his personal life problems for some time, he Follow Osho Rajneesh again. According to Vijay’s son Vaibhav, Vijay Anand asked Rajneesh some questions but he could not answer them and Vijay realized that Rajneesh was not God. He became even more disappointed with Rajneesh when he asked him to make a film about him. Talking about this in an interview, Vaibhav said:
Dad realized something was wrong with Rajneesh. He does not look like Bhagwan. Dad asked some questions that Rajneesh could not answer. He became even more disappointed with Rajneesh when he asked his dad to make a film about him. Dad said, “Goodbye, thank you, get out!” He realized that this man was no longer spiritual. He became materialistic. He wrote him a letter saying that this was not the purpose for which he came to him, and left the monastery the next day. ”
