Virgin River has finished filming its fifth season and fans are eagerly awaiting the time when the show hits Netflix. While new episodes likely won’t hit the streaming giant until the fall, the excitement for the new series has already begun thanks to some of the show’s stars sharing glimpses of what’s to come.
The film’s star, Teryl Rothery, who plays Muriel, revealed to fans that she hopes for a romantic backstory for her character in the future.

Answering fans’ questions, the Canadian actress (60 years old) admitted she hopes Muriel will eventually find a soulmate like the main couple in the film, Jack (Martin Henderson) and Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge).
When asked what she hopes for in the plot, she explained, “But maybe she wants Muriel to have the relationship that Mel and Jack have. You know, it’s really like your soul mate.”

Teryl also shared that she wants to spend more time with Virgin River residents in the future. “Obviously it would be nice to see her go out and do more with the city, outside of the sewing circle.

“It’s possible to get a better understanding of the character Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale), because she’s so funny.” She added: “I [also] think Mel and Jack. I think that relationship is the main part of the play.”
Meanwhile, Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for the upcoming fifth season of this heartwarming romance. However, actress Annette has confirmed that new episodes will premiere in the fall on social media.

Back on Instagram in May, Annette posted a snap of roses in bloom, captioning: “Some roses to celebrate the good news: #VirginRiver season 5 will air in the fall and we’ll be filming season 6 as soon as the strike is resolved. #WGAStrong!”

With strikes by Hollywood writers and actors still ongoing, production is likely to be halted until the fall, when the strikes are expected to end, according to industry insiders.
