Vishal Dadlani is an Indian singer, music director and lyricist. He worked with his “creative partner” Shekhar Ravjiani, commonly known as Vishal-Shekhar. Apart from working in the mainstream Bollywood music industry, he is also a member of the rock/electronic band Pentagram. He has also sung songs in Tamil, Telugu and Marathi.

After completing his education at Hill Grange High School in South Mumbai, he studied at Jai Hind College, University of Mumbai for two years before graduating from HR College of Commerce and Economics, HSNC University. In 1994, he received his Bachelor of Commerce degree. Vishal developed a musical sense while listening to the music his parents used to listen to. From Led Zeppelin to Jagjit Singh, he tried and experimented with different languages and musical genres. His career began in 1994 when he began playing the lead vocal role in a band called Pentagram. After some time, he entered the music industry in Hindi films and never looked back.

Pentagram is an Indian rock band formed in 1994, with Vishal as the lead singer. The band consists of three other members, including Shiraz Bhattacharya on drums, Randolph Correia on guitar and Papal Mane on bass. They are considered pioneers in the independent band scene. Their debut album, We Are Not Listening, was released in 1996 and featured famous poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar and musical artist Shankar Mahadevan. After their debut, the band became very popular and released further albums such as “Up”, “It’s OK, It’s All Good” and “Bloodywood”. He rose to fame as a singer, composer and lyricist after being a part of many Bollywood projects like Jhankaar Beats (2003), Bluffmaster (2005) and Salaam Namaste (2005).
