A WAR widow has avoided jail after scratching, kicking and biting her new partner in a “merciless” attack.
Christina Plumb, 49, whose first husband Olaf “Oz” Schmid was killed defusing a bomb in Afghanistan, went on a drunken rampage after drinking gin.

She “acted like a dog” as she tore husband Adam Plumb’s shirt off during the brutal 20-minute attack at their £1.5million home in Devon.
Plumb has now avoided jail after being convicted of assault and instead received a 12-week sentence suspended for 12 months.
In a statement read to the court, Adam said: “This has completely destroyed my life. Christina has shown no remorse whatsoever.”
The fighter became a figurehead for grieving war widows after Staff Sergeant Schmid died on his last day on duty in 2009.
She received the George Cross on his behalf after his death and fought for better pensions for bereaved spouses and higher pay for soldiers.
Newton Abbot Magistrates’ Court heard about the horror that happened during a late-night row in September last year.
Plumb went to bed with Adam after drinking gin, but left the room after she started grabbing and poking him.
He told JPs: “She grabbed me and put her cold feet on my back. I told her to leave me alone.”
The investor then went to the locker room where he said Plumb “kept yelling” at him.
He continued: “She trapped me in the corner of the dressing room. She was literally just going at me. She was just attacking me. She was kicking me in the balls. She was kicking me. I couldn’t get her off me.
“The changing room is about 4 feet wide so it’s not very wide. When I started to leave, she bit me in the middle of the back.”
In a video of the altercation, Plumb could be heard branding the woman “disgusting” as he begged her to leave him alone.
The ordeal ended only when he ran to another room and locked himself inside to call the police.
Plumb initially claimed she was a “victim of domestic violence” and was “assaulted by Adam”.
She told the court that her husband beat and kicked her when he revealed that he wanted a divorce.
But District Judge Stuart Smith said there was “no evidence” that Plumb had suffered any injuries.
Evidence also showed that she had cut off her own nose with her fingernails and bloodied her husband’s T-shirt in a false attempt to prove that she had been assaulted.
The judge said: “You falsely attempted to maliciously produce injuries to your nose in an attempt to portray yourself as a victim of domestic abuse, when all along you were the aggressor.”
