Warren Zeiders Likes His Life and His Whiskey to Be Super Bold: 'Paved My Own Path' (Exclusive)

  • Warren Zeiders is hitting the road this summer
  • “We live in a world where the story has to fit, but I’ve always gone ahead and trusted my gut,” he tells PEOPLE
  • The “Pretty Little Poison” hitmaker has teamed up with Wild Turkey

As Warren Zeiders prepares for a summer on the road, the country rocker is paying close attention what he eats and how he asks.

And everyone else too.

In fact, when Zeiders offered up a shirtless selfie on his Instagram page back in May, the comments section was flooded with good adoration from his fans asking him how he looks the way he does.

“I usually have eggs in the morning, steak and rice for lunch, or if I’m focused on getting lean, I’ll have a protein shake,” Zeiders, 24, explained in a recent interview with PEOPLE. “I don’t follow a super-strict carnivore diet, but I do eat a lot of red meat. That’s pretty much all I eat.”

Certainly, from the moment he caught the country music industry’s attention in 2020 with his cover of Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey,” Zeiders has proven to be a ‘what you see is what you get’ type of guy. And this guy seems to shine every time he’s on stage.

“Everything can seem like smoke and mirrors to the public these days,” says Zeiders, who earlier this year took home his first CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Male Video of the Year for his hit “Pretty Little Poison,” which was on top of the list. “When it comes to a live show, fans spend their time and money to come see something that you can’t just press play.”

In August, Zeiders will hit the road with Jelly Roll as their direct support The Beautifully Broken Tour, making stops at places like Madison Square Garden, Crypto.com Arena and the United Center. Then in 2025 Zeiders will embark on their first ever European tour.

It’s a bold move, that’s for sure.

“I love the word ‘brave,'” says Zeiders, who recently released his current single, “Relapse,” which he co-wrote with Blake Pendergrass and Justin Ebach. “We live in a world where the story has to fit, but I’ve always just gone ahead and trusted my gut and carved my own path. I mean, my journey is a special one in the way I went from Los Angeles-based publishing house to publishing house house from Nashville, if that’s not bold, I’m not sure what is.”

Obviously, these ideas of boldness and authenticity don’t hold much ground for Zeiders, whose upbringing in Montana afforded him precious time to enjoy some of the finer things in life.

“I had my first glass of whiskey when I was 21… when I was legal, of course,” he says with a laugh. “Whenever I think of Wild Turkey, it reminds me of being in Montana, Wyoming. I’d be out there with a great glass of whiskey, isolated from the world, with my dad by my side.”

So when the Wild Turkey brand approached Zeiders with the possibility of a partnership, he says it was a no-brainer.

“When I first spoke to the Wild Turkey team on the phone, the importance they place on family really spoke to me,” says Zeiders, who recently headlined his first in a series of 101 Bold Nights concerts to be held at at, the first of which took place in Charlotte on May 29.

Through this year’s 101 Bold Nights initiative, Wild Turkey will donate $100,000 to charity partner Spaceflight Records, a non-profit label that helps empower emerging artists and music professionals to trust their guts and advance their careers.

“I’m really proud to partner with such a quality brand that has played such an unforgettable part of my life,” says Zeiders.
