Paul Sharpe’s player came across a big question, what cost him big money
During the show, Paul took several risks, making a few wild speculations with very little to which he would base his explanation – but that paid off, most of his time in a hot seat.
Even Jeremy was impressed with his courage and said, “I can’t remember that I ever had a competitor like you.”
He made a committee up to £ 64,000 with a safety net of £ 32,000.
And he had the potential to win another £ 93,000 when he asked the question of £ 125,000.
But he raised the question about American capital.
They asked him, “What is not the name of the US state capital?”
Paul got the possibilities: a) Lincoln, b) Richmond, c) Cambridge or d) Dover.
He was stuck in the question, he said to Jeremy: “I’m pretty sure Cambridge is the capital of Massachusetts.”
“I think Dover is somewhere in the middle of the west, so my feeling in the gut says Richmond,” Paul said, but with two life lines he decided to call his father, Dennis.
Dennis was quite convinced that the answer was Dover and when his son asked if he was sure he said, “Pretty safe.”
“It’s a kind of person you want at the other end of the phone – clear, determined, maybe wrong, but who knows,” Jeremy laughed.
Watch that a millionaire competitor is forced to invite Jeremy Clarkson for help at the geographical issue – but would you get it?
Joking about his game, Paul said, “I guess things on the basis of less than that before. Dover, the final answer.”
To his horror, Jeremy laughed, “Oh, you did it again, and you just lost £ 32,000.”
The correct answer was Cambridge.
“I’m so sorry. Lady Luck drove away,” the presenter said.
“No problem at all. I never hit Cambridge in a million years,”
Pointing out that not everything was lost, the Jezza said, “Look this way, win £ 32,000.”
One spectator wrote on X: “Who wants to be a millionaire, and the guys who work great while his phone, friend, rang his father, uses his answer and loses £ 32,000.”
