Child On Wrong Spirit Airlines
Instead of going to see his grandmother in Fort Myers, Florida, an unaccompanied six-year-old child on a Spirit Airlines flight was flown to Orlando. Spirit Airlines expressed its condolences to the family via email, saying the boy was scheduled to take off on Dec. 21 from Philadelphia International Airport and arrive at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. Instead, the child was “wrongly boarded” on a flight to Orlando, according to Spirit Airlines. “The child was always under the watchful eye of a Spirit Team member, and as soon as we realized the mistake, we took immediate steps to communicate with the family and reunite them,” the airline said in a statement.
The child was identified as the 6-year-old grandson of Maria Ramos. Ramos became concerned when she discovered her grandson was not on the plane he was originally supposed to be on when it landed, she told sources. After her grandson landed in Orlando, Ramos said, she got a call and the two drove nearly 100 miles from Fort Myers to pick him up. Spirit Airlines apologized to the family, a spokeswoman said, but Ramos insisted he wanted an explanation. Her words, “I want to be called,”
