Teresa Araujo, 34, was traveling with her friend Tara to celebrate her friend’s birthday on Spirit Airlines on October 4.

But the two never got on the American flight after they were allegedly kicked out by a male flight attendant who claimed they couldn’t wear crop tops.

Teresa and Tara claim they were settling into their seats when a flight attendant suddenly approached them and demanded they “cover up”.

The women, who were wearing jeans and T-shirts as well as sweaters over their tops, said they were confused by the request – especially since it was hot on the plane, Teresa said.

A distraught Teresa said in a social media post: “My friend and I had a terrible experience on flight 387 from Lax to New Orleans on Friday with @spiritairlines

“We were abused by a male flight attendant who told us to ‘cover up’ because we were wearing short t-shirts.”

Teresa says she initially put her sweater back on, but it was so hot she had to take it off again.

At that moment, the flight attendant returned and allegedly demanded: “Put on your coat, I won’t ask you another time”.

Teresa claims that the only question she asked was if she could see the airline’s dress code.

But the incident soon escalated when the flight attendant allegedly threatened: “You’ll see what happens!”

Despite the plane already being on the runway, the aircraft turned around to disembark Teresa and Tara back at the boarding gate.

Then a supervisor arrived and told the women that they had to leave the plane as the attendant in question insisted on doing so.

Teresa added: “Other passengers joined in and tried to defend us, but eventually the supervisor spoke to us and said [us] either we would leave the flight or she would bring it [in] police.”

She filmed the moment they were confronted by a supervisor, who asked them not to film.

Other passengers can be heard coming forward to intervene on the woman’s side, but the supervisor is adamant that they must get off.

Another clip shows the women in visible disbelief as they are escorted off the plane.

Tereza also shared another video that showed how she and Tara were dressed that day.

The travel blogger says she was assured she would be put on another flight to New Orleans – but that allegedly never happened, leaving her in tears.

Teresa said: “It turned out it was all a lie and later at the airport they explained to us that when someone is kicked off a plane, there is no refund or transfer to another flight.

“The police themselves said that we were right, that we should not have left the plane, that we should have waited for them to come and that we should sue the company.

She ended up having to pay another £764 for another ticket, this time with Delta Airlines, and wait around five hours at Los Angeles airport.

Teresa also defended herself that neither she nor her friend “said anything to the flight attendants” that would have provoked him and that they had not “drank alcohol”.

The outraged passenger also claims that she and at least 16 other people on the New Orleans-bound flight have filed complaints against Spirit Airlines over what happened.

A spokesperson for Spirit Airlines said: “Our contract of carriage, the document that all guests agree to when booking with us, includes certain dress standards for all guests traveling with us.

“We are investigating the case and are in contact with guests about their experiences.”
