Wayne Bridge PULLS OUT of KSI Misfits fight with lengthy statement on John Terry jibes which ‘crossed a line’

WAYNE BRIDGE HAS BACKED OUT OF FIGHT WITH KSI.

The former Chelsea, Manchester City and England left-back was scheduled to enter the ring with the YouTuber on March 29.

The pair came face-to-face on Saturday night at Misfits 20 – where KSI brutally mocked Bridge’s previous relationship with Vanessa Perroncel.

In 2010, it was claimed that John Terry – a former Bridge team-mate – had an affair with Vanessa the year before – although the former model has always denied it.

KSI scoffed: “Wayne Bridge, aren’t you the guy who let John Terry break your ex?

“That’s what you’re known for.”

He then sang: “Vanessa Woah she jumped on Terry’s d*** it made the big boy sick.”

KSI also pushed the former footballer in the chest while Bridge had to be restrained by three security guards.

Bridge – who famously refused to shake Terry’s hand in the wake of the public scandal – initially appeared to play down the comments, first responding on Saturday night: “I think it’s just him, isn’t it?

“It’s the cameras, what he’s doing, put him in a room by himself, he’s probably not doing that, something could happen.”

KSI took to social media on Sunday: “From playing with him on FIFA Ultimate Team to knocking out Wayne Bridge in the ring at the end of March, what a life.”

But now Bridge has said the fight is OFF – insisting the “deeply personal comments have crossed the line”.

Bridge (44) took to his Instagram story on Monday afternoon to make a shocking statement.

The 36-capped Three Lions international said: “I’m sure a lot of you saw what happened on Saturday night at the Misfits Boxing event.

“First, I think it’s important to explain the reason why I accepted the fight.

“I always like to challenge myself. This was a good opportunity to face an interesting opponent on a big stage.

“I have always loved boxing as part of my daily training routine.

“I was fully prepared for hard training and fun.

“Of course I expected to face some criticism, but I feel that what was said on Saturday crossed the line.

“These are deeply personal comments that affect my family and other families involved in the situation.

“First of all, I am a family man and my priority is their protection.

“My opponent is someone that a lot of kids around the world look up to, including my kids.

“I hope that one day they will look at this differently.

“I personally do not want to be involved in these exchanges.

“I will not fight again on March 29.

“I’m still waiting for my next big challenge and I have some exciting things ahead of me in 2025.

“Thank you for all the love. The support has been overwhelming. I want my friends and family to know how special they are.

“I know deep down that this is the right thing to do.”

Bridge has some boxing experience since retiring from football in 2014.

He entered the ring twice, and even had an amateur fight with an English boxing license.

The former defender beat Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews on points in 2018 – even impressing some fans with his boxing skills.

But fellow ex-footballer Danny Simpson – who relied on his Misfits Boxing debut last year – has backed Bridge’s decision to retire following KSI’s controversial comments.

The Premier League title winner from Leicester City tweeted: “Disrespect to the players. It can’t be like that @KSI @MamsTaylor 😡🥊 @MisfitsBoxing.”
