It’s not a Big Mac, but it’s definitely tasty.
McDonald’s introduced the Chicken Big Mac to American diners on Thursday, October 10, and a day earlier, members of the media enjoyed an exclusive taste at the company’s headquarters in Chicago.
Instead of two beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame bun, the Chicken Big Mag offers two tempura and fried white meat patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles. .. on buns with sesame. (Onion not included.)
“Our chefs got involved in the kitchen and developed the perfect burger,” McDonald’s culinary manager Yue Ji told reporters. “The salty flavor goes really well with the spicy, creamy Big Mac sauce.”
McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac will finally be available in the US
The new sandwich features a full ounce of Big Mac sauce, which Wayne Kuhl, senior manager of protein for McDonald’s US, said is in response to customer demand.
“We have to keep driving the flavor. Our consumers want bolder flavors,” he said. “So that’s what we’re going to focus on.”
Although Ji said the chicken patties “share similar ingredients and the same type of breading system” as the brand’s nuggets, Kuhl clarified that they are “not a giant McNugget. Similar yes, but not the same.”

So what does it taste like?
Chicken burgers are perfectly crispy when you bite into them for the first time, complemented by delicious Big Mac sauce and fresh lettuce. Some of the assembled tasters even said they liked the Big Mac sauce on the chicken sandwich better than the original beef.
Admittedly, all that sauce makes it a bit messy (grab the extra napkins!) and means that the cheese – one slice for the whole sandwich – gets a bit wasted. Although for this tester it didn’t matter — I didn’t miss it.
All in all, simplicity is the secret to, well, the sauce. Despite the messiness, only a handful of ingredients make each bite consistent and predictable, which is about what you want from your McDonald’s order.
Sandwiches are available for a limited time only. But Kuhl hinted that something similar could be cooked in McDonald’s test kitchens.
“Chicken is the main growth category for us,” he said. “We will continue to engage within that category.”
