The public was notified on Thursday, January 18, 2024 that Wendi Campbell, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Waterloo, appears to have passed away. Despite this, no significant data or evidence has so far emerged to support the death claims, leaving the public skeptical of the reports. Family, friends or associates of Wendi Campbell have not come forward to confirm the details and lend credence to these death claims. In December 2023, it was revealed that Campbell, who had run the Waterloo Food Bank for the previous 24 years, had taken sick leave due to her battle with cancer, which began in June 2023.

Her family said in an obituary on the Henry Walser Funeral Home website that the 53-year-old’s last request was to donate her brain to Sheila Singh’s lab at McMaster University for further glioblastoma research. After joining the food bank in 1999, Campbell has spent the last fifteen years in that role as CEO. According to her family, she left an “impressive legacy”. The obituary noted that Wendy’s goal of improving our city was at the heart of everything she accomplished. “She was always learning, growing and finding ways to better herself and others,” the statement continued. The funeral home will have a visitation on January 28th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

The family called the celebration of life “The Party,” and it will be held March 10 at 1 p.m. at Federation Hall at the University of Waterloo. They also mentioned that instead of wearing black, as Campbell ordered, guests should wear blazers, jeans and stunning shoes. Her family has requested that donations be made to the Kitchener Rangers Community Foundation, the Friendship House Foundation and St. John’s General Hospital.
