Just when we thought we’d solved the mystery, another fiendishly mindboggling optical illusion has started circulating online.

A segment is pulled from the black and blue dress and dragged towards the second gown
The bizarre clip features two outfits – one that’s black and blue and another that’s yellow and white.
But when a segment from the dress on the left hand side is dragged across, the colours appear to change completely.
Weirdly, the stripes that are definitely blue and blue transform when placed on the yellow dress.

Internet users are completely baffled at the eye-trickery – and more than 300,000 people have viewed the video since yesterday.
One Imgur user said: “What the f***… Come on brain, you can’t be this easily confused.”
Another asked: “What sort of black magic is this.”

The controversial dress appeared to be different colours to different people
Scientists have revealed the reason why colour can trick the eye.
When light hits the retina, it triggers the body’s visual cortex, which tells the brain to process the signals into an image.
As your brain is interpreting what you’re looking at, it can sometimes change the hue of the “real” colour.
These aren’t the only confusing optical illusions to sweep the web in recent weeks.
This baffling puzzle, by Akiyoshi Kitaoka, claims to have a man’s face hidden in the squares.
Another mindblowing creation by Kitoaka shows a girl with two different coloured eyes – which are actually both grey.
