Why do some Snapchat stories have purple rings?
The purple ring around your Snapchat story is essentially a design choice. While sending photos and videos on Snapchat, users must have noticed how different parts of the app are designated with different colors. Story pages are highlighted in purple, as is evident from the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. So every time a user views an update posted by a friend via the Stories page, they’ll see a purple ring around it. Users can also view the same stories through the chat page, which have a blue ring around the user’s Bitmoji.
The purple circle on the Stories page can appear with or without a lock. A purple ring with a lock indicates that the user has been added to that person’s private story. This means that the person only allows selected users to view their stories. Once a user views a private story, the ring and lock will turn gray, just like a regularly viewed Snapchat story.
What is the purple circle around the Snapchat Bitmoji?
Users may also see purple circles around other Snapchatters’ Bitmojis. They usually appear under Quick Add or in the Add Friends section of the Story page. In the Stories section, Snapchat displays a row of recommended friends at the top. Shows the user and their Bitmoji, purple circle, and purple “Add Friend” button. In this case, the purple circle doesn’t really mean anything and is just a design choice.
Under the Add a Friend section, users will notice that only certain people in Quick Add have a purple circle around their Bitmoji. All this means is that the person posted a story that the user hasn’t seen yet. If the story is public, clicking the Bitmoji will play the story. If not, it takes the user to the person’s profile page, where they can choose to add the person as a friend on Snapchat.
