What Family Guy’s Joke About Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Got Wrong

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting the cartoon treatment again – this time, on Family man.

A new episode of Seth MacFarlane’s animated sitcom features caricatures of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex lounging by the pool in bathing suits.

A butler approaches them and says, “Sir, your millions from Netflix for…nobody knows what.”

Harry’s character replies, “Put it with the others.”

A phone notification rings and Meghan’s character says, “Honey, it’s time for our $250,000 sponsored Del Taco Daily Instagram post.”

“I shouldn’t have left the made up nonsense,” Harry replies.

While Prince Harry and Meghan have a contract with Netflix, where they have produced several shows from a documentary series Harry and Meghan look behind the scenes of the Invictus Games with Heart of Invictusthere’s an obvious loophole in the second Instagram joke: the couple currently has no public presence on social media.

Meghan, 42, and Harry, 39, shut down their @SussexRoyal Instagram page shortly after announcing their intention to step down as working royals in 2020. They then moved to Meghan’s home state of California to set up their Archewell Foundation. , but the couple did not return to social networks.

Although the parents-of-two no longer use Instagram or update the SussexRoyal.com website, “both the Instagram account and the website will continue to exist online for the foreseeable future,” a spokesperson for the couple previously said.

Captioning their latest Instagram post, the couple wrote: “As we all feel, the world looks extremely fragile at the moment. Yet we are convinced that every human being has the potential and the opportunity to make a difference – as is now seen around the world, in our families, our communities and those on the front lines – together we can lift each other up to realize the fullness of that promise.”

“As we all find a role to play in this global shift and changing habits, we are focusing on this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute,” they added. “Although you may not see us here, the work goes on.”

Last year, Meghan teased a return to social media in a wide-ranging interview with New York magazine Cut.

“Do you want to know a secret?” she said. “I’m going back…to Instagram.”

Although Meghan “expressed that she’s not sure if she’s actually going back to Instagram anymore” later in the interview, she appears to be considering the move “especially now, with Archetypes coming out,” referring to her podcast.

Considering shutting down her social media profiles (including her Instagram page with 3 million followers) and lifestyle blog Tig after she got engaged to Prince Harry, ex Suits star said, “It’s been a huge adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life.”

Besides that Family manMeghan and Prince Harry were also pranked South Park earlier this year. Titled “Worldwide Privacy Tour,” the episode centers on a “Prince of Canada” and his wife who settle in a fictional town in Colorado. It was hard to spot the characters’ similarities to Harry and Meghan, from the prince’s ginger hair and beard to the woman’s pink outfit and hat, which was very similar to Meghan’s ensemble at Trooping the Color 2018. In the show, the cartoon couple wore “We want our privacy” and “Stop looking at us” as they traveled to various locations around the world.

When reports emerged that Meghan and Harry would take legal action against South Park, a spokesperson for the couple denied the rumours. A spokesperson told PEOPLE, “It’s all pure nonsense. Totally baseless, boring reports.”
