The painting “Visions in the Mountains” depicts a mountainous landscape inhabited by various hidden characters.
Depending on your perspective, the optical illusion shows a man with a hood, a person sitting on a jacket, the face of the Mona Lisa, a man with a beard, and a person sitting on a rock.
Viewers seeing a bearded man for the first time, for example, let their low self-esteem affect their relationships, according to author Rebecca Stokes in Your Tango.
If you’re the first to see a man sitting on his jacket, Stokes said, it could mean you’re afraid of confrontation.
“There’s nothing worse than having to express your negative emotions to someone else, except maybe they need to have a whole conversation about it,” she said of this group.
But seeing Mona Lisa’s face first means a brighter future, Stokes said: a romantic view of life.
“Being able to see all that beauty is a great gift, but it can also make it easier to avoid problems in your relationships,” Stokes said.
Mona Lisa viewers are also advised not to pretend all is well when they run into trouble.
On the other hand, whoever sees a man with a hood for the first time tends to explode and have a bad temper.
“Not everyone sees red and becomes a missile whose only thought is ‘seek and destroy,'” Stokes said.
“Sometimes the best way to have productive communication is to just walk away until the red goes out.”
Sharp-eyed viewers may also spot a man sitting on a rock in the background.
Seeing this character means you tend to isolate yourself, Stokes said.
For these viewers, spending time alone is important, she said, but spending time with loved ones is also important.
“You call yourself an introvert, but the truth is sometimes you just go too far,” Stokes said.
Another image of a bear keeps viewers busy trying to figure out what the optical illusion means.
And this simple two-color image helps people learn more about whether or not they have an aggressive personality.
