Sunrise Highway Overview
Sunrise Highway is a significant arterial highway that starts as a six to eight-lane road in eastern Queens, running parallel to the Long Island Rail Road’s Atlantic and Montauk branches. As it enters Nassau County, it passes through several communities, including Valley Stream, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, and Merrick, where it connects to the Meadowbrook State Parkway via an interchange.
Continuing eastward, the highway reaches Wantagh, where it meets the Wantagh State Parkway, and then moves on to Seaford, where it intersects with NY 135. The highway proceeds to East Massapequa, where it passes under the Long Island Rail Road tracks and completes its stretch through Nassau County.
